Mother petitions JAMB over poor UTME result of ‘brilliant son’
A petition has been submitted to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board in Abuja by Victoria Oshibowale on behalf of her son, Isaac Oluwatobi Oshibowale, disputing the result credited to him upon the release of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results.
In the petition, Victoria revealed that Isaac has, through primary and secondary education, been a brilliant and high flying student, therefore his low scoring UTME result was a rude shock to all that knew him.
The result credited to Isaac reads thus: Use of English- 36, Mathematics- 38, Physics- 52 and Chemistry- 52.
Victoria said Isaac’s academic record – includes participation in competitions like Olympiads, National Association of Physics Students (NAPS) challenge, Science Teachers Association of Nigeria as well as a sterling West African Examination Council result.
She said as a result of his streak of achievements, Isaac was expected to have done better than the 178 score credited to him by JAMB.
She therefore petitioned the examination body, requesting for a thorough review of Isaac’s examination papers while stating with confidence that he did better than the released result.
Victoria revealed to JAMB that Isaac had in the NOV/DEC WASSCE, gotten the following result: A1 in Goegraphy, Mathematic and Physics while bagging a B3 in Further Mathematics, B2 in Chemistry and English Language.
She said these were the same subjects her son was purported to have done badly at, going by his UTME result.
She enjoined the examination body to swiftly grant her petition and rectify whatever error found in Isaac’s case as it would not only restore the integrity of the system but also save the victim from trauma and mitigate against his loss of faith in the educational system of the nation.
